The choppy riffs briefly reminded me of the likes of Korn; I attribute it to artistic license, a nod to that sadly fashionable metal in this era of ours. The frenetic solos quickly put my worried mind at ease, calming these fears with the ease of his well-developed scales. This song sums up the history of our music well, borrowing melodic bits here and there.
It rarely fails to introduce new animation into old traditions, precedents that are too often imitatively cloned by other mediocre bands. Ethereal keys evoke reflections of the Ocean Machine, the watery synths of a sleepy sea. Such tranquility would soon be shattered by the tumultuous guitar, opening the way for the bold.
Following flurries of solos, one can't help but imagine the hours of work that went into making them. A rewarding musical cacophony, if there ever was one. Neither too vain nor self-righteous, each instrument stands its ground while maintaining the integrity of the ensemble. The measured chords in the choppy conclusion give a lasting sense of final release, which subsides quickly but isn't so quickly forgotten.
